Overland Trail Middle 6th Grade

For my first observation I went to Mrs. Bryant's sixth grade science classroom. I was there for three weeks and I observed two science class periods. I was strictly observing during my time there. I sat in the back of the room and took notes on what I had observed and learned.Just getting to be in the classroom and watch the teacher interact with students with a unique teaching style was very beneficial.  I saw the students work on and complete a big newsletter project as well as work through and test on a unit. This observation gave me a different classroom perspective and I realized my passion is to teach upper elementary school rather than lower grade levels.

Overland Trail Elementary Mrs. Peterson 4th Grade

My second observation was in Mrs. Peterson's fourth grade classroom. In the beginning of the day she had her home room students, who would come in and do morning work. I helped the students complete their work and get organized for the day. Shortly after, the students had their first math rotation. I loved working with Mrs. Peterson's math class because I got to work one on one with a couple of students and watch them improve over the weeks I was there. I really liked Mrs. Peterson's teaching style and learned a lot from observing her. I took notes because in the future I would like to take a lot of what Mrs. Peterson does with her students and bring it into my own classroom. It was such a pleasure being in the fourth grade classroom, and it is a grade I would love to teach.

Overland Trail Elementary Mrs. Wood 2nd Grade

For my final observation I went to Mrs. Wood's second grade classroom. Mrs. Wood is very organized and worked really well with her students. I learned about classroom management  and in the mornings I helped the kids out with their morning work. For reading I took small groups of students out in the hall and got to read with them and lead a discussion. I also worked one on one with students who needed some extra help. I loved getting to work in small groups because I got to get to know them better and it was a good experience for me to learn how to explain and teach students in a more one on one style.
